About ATU Ontario

The time has come to unite ATU in Canada’s largest province to strengthen our political influence, enhance our public image and organize more workers.
~ Bob Kinnear, President, ATU Ontario

The leaders of many Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Locals met in Toronto on May 27 -29, 2012, to discuss issues of common concern to all ATU Local members. Of particular concern were the issues arising out of provincial laws, such as Labour Relations Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, and Bill 150, which took away TTC workers’ right to strike.

The strong consensus of the meeting was that a provincial organization of ATU locals was needed for government and media relation and public outreach.
